Grive is dead, long live drive

Posted by Andy in Tech

I'm using pelican in conjunction with google drive to make/host this blog. In order for this to work, I need a local copy of the drive folder and this was done admirably by grive. However, its lack of development has limited it use as the authentication service which it is using has now been discontinued. One paniced google search revealed drive as a highly suitable replacement.

The program is inspired by git and has the option of selective folder updating/downloading which is ideal for my application. One thing is that it isn't a dropbox replacement with dynamic monitoring of file changes but that doesn't affect me. It also has lots of interesting features which I'll investigate when I need more from my gdrive
