Kefir

My good friend and former youth group leader, Wulf, posted last year about starting his kefir kollection and last week, a lovely hand written envelope arrived containing some dried kefir seed. I added these to some 3.5% fat milk to start the rehydration process and it was very success! However, the sudden increase in temperature lead to the kefir grains separating the milk and then the two components went sour in the warm room temperature. The two foul tasting products were enjoyed by the cats but the main plan of growing the kefir worked with the seeds growing in size. The next batch of kefir is underway in the fridge :)

The main plan is to keep the colony growing on milk (milk kefir is yummy) but also to use some to make lemonade and ginger beer as the grains are really easy to filter out of the drinks
