Pinebook pro

The wife's laptop lost a battle with a small child. The hard drive made a noise and stopped working. This wasn't the end of the world, due to our extensive backup system but working on a keyboard on a tablet really isn't the same, especially as Android isn't really a desktop experience.

This was the moment i've been waiting for as pine64 sell the Pinebook Pro , a low-end arm-based laptop for 200 USD! The harddrive isn't massive (64 GB) but there is a slot for an sd-card and everything else you expect from a laptop. The keyboard feels real; the laptop isn't heavy and everything is well-built and quality! It isn't a toy and definately a good chromebook replacement.

The laptop comes with cutting-edge kde manjaro preinstalled. I've gone off Manjaro as I found the constant updates and jumping between openbox/kde had caused some issues. (These were the pre-docking station days when I had broken all the usb ports and couldn't reinstall!) However, this install is sweet and there have been no issues. All needed office software was just a pacman install away and the real headline is that the wife just used without noticing any problems.

This is highly recommended
