Cast iron flat griddle

Posted by Andy in Food

During the summer, there was a gas shortage and we couldn't use our grill. I panic bought a cast-iron griddle which is reversible with a gill on one side and a smooth surface on the other. The plan was build a fire and cook but I never needed to do this.

So, fast forward a few months, I've discovered the big flat griddle is perfect on two induction hobs. A nice low heat, a little oil and this thing cooks amazingly. Its not like a non-stick pan but its pretty close. It is also much healthier especially if you burn food on it... There is no risk of fluorocarbon ingestion. You can make the perfect drop-scones, american-style pancakes, fried eggs and cheese toasties.

It definitely for the drier food. Anything which is juice has to be done in a skillet but this is a very nice addition to the kitchen.
